Coaching in Canada and Internationally

Coaching Requirements for Canadian National Events

At this time, the coaching standard for National Events is C2 - NCCP Dojang Coach Certified. In addition, coaches must:

  • Be registered with the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) Professional Coach Department (Pro Coach)
  • Be registered with Taekwondo Canada
  • Have a current Global Official’s Licence (GOL)

To encourage and assist coaches in progressing through the various training requirements, there is a graduated coach registration standard for participation at National events.

C1 - Performance Coach Certified

C2 - Dojang Coach Certified

C3 - Assistant Instructor Certified and Dojang Coach Trained

  • Coaches may register in this category only once
  • Coaches who registered in 2016 as DC Special Status must register for C2 or C1 in 2017

C4 - Assistant Instructor Trained

  • Coaches may register in this category only once
  • Coaches who registered in 2016 as AI Special Status must register for C3, C2 or C1 in 2017

Coaching Requirements for International Events

At this time, the coaching standard for International Events is the WT/PATU Coach Licence and a Global Officials Licence (GOL). The WT/PATU Coach Licence is obtained by taking the WT/PATU Coach course, which is often run in concert with international open events.

Anticipate the coaching standard for Canadian National Team coaches to be C1 - Performance Coach Certified by 2019.
