We will be running a series of workshops and seminars before and during the 2018 National Taekwondo Championships.

Core Master Coach Developer Workshop

  • What is it: The role of the Master Coach Developer (MCD) is to train, evaluate, support, and mentor Coach Developers (Learning Facilitators (LFs), Coach Evaluators (CEs) and other MCDs). In addition, MCDs play a key role in promoting the NCCP. Core training is an essential part of the MCD pathway.

Master Coach Developer Training

  • Facilitators: Grandmaster Su Hwan Chung
  • This training is by invitation only in preparation for the DC LF workshop on 13 Feb. 

 

Dojang Coach Learning Facilitator (LF) Workshop

  • What is it:  LFs are crucial to the development of skilled and knowledgeable coaches, who are then able to develop safer, happier athletes/participants. The goal of an LF is to effectively facilitate sessions that result in the development of coaches who are able to demonstrate their abilities and meet the standards established for certification. An LF should have the appropriate knowledge, skills, and attitudes to facilitate workshops using the competency-based approach. The DC LF Workshop trains LFs to facilitate DC workshops.
  • Prerequisites: Must be DC Certified

Dojang Coach Workshop

  • What is it: Dojang Coach (DC) is the NCCP Competition Introduction level context for Taekwondo. It is a Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) approved context and DC certification is the standard for coaching at the National level.

Coach Briefing on MAINTENANCE Points

  • What is it: This aim of this briefing is to provide information to coaches regarding the five-year maintenance requirements to renew their certifications.

Core Coach Evaluator Workshop

  • What is it: A Coach Evaluator’s role is to contribute to the development of coaches after they have acquired their NCCP training. This includes assessment, evaluation, debriefing, and follow-up with coaches trying to achieve Certified status. Coach Evaluators are experts in the observation process and have in-depth knowledge of the outcomes, criteria, and evidences that comprise the evaluation tools that establish NCCP standards for coaches of a particular sport context.

National Referee Seminar – Kyorugi

  • What is it: After meeting the Provincial requirements and with the recommendation of the Provincial Referee Chairperson, a Provincial Referee can attend a national referee seminar, usually two days in length.  The seminar will consist of a lecture on the competition rules and a subsequent written exam, hand signal practice, practical testing and scoring testing.  The second component is an evaluation at an event.
