The Canadian team announcement comes on the back of a tremendous result at the recently completed President’s Cup held in Lima, Peru which saw Canada bring home nine medals, finishing second amongst all participating nations in the Senior division.

The Senior team in Lima was led by Ella Brewster (Toronto, ON) and Nicholas Hoefling (Burlington, ON) who captured gold medals in their respective weight classes and finished as the top Female and Male athletes of the tournament.

In preparation for the World Championships, Taekwondo Canada High Performance Director Allan Wrigley said: “Our athletes showed tremendous determination and excellence in Lima, delivering one of Canada’s strongest international performances in recent years.”

“Having both Ella Brewster and Nicholas Hoefling recognized as the tournament’s top Senior athletes, along with Laila Khan earning our third gold medal, is a true testament to their hard work and the support of their coaches, teammates, and clubs back home. Together with the strength of our two Olympians, these young athletes add depth and potential as we now turn our focus to Wuxi, aiming to carry this momentum into the World Championships and continue strengthening Canada’s presence on the world stage.”

The Senior Kyorugi National team athletes that competed will now turn their attention to the upcoming World Championships in Wuxi, China, scheduled for October 24th to 30th. Building on their successes in Peru, the athletes aim to carry this momentum into the next major international event.
