CPC Fund to Launch on December 6th

The Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) will be launching the Paralympic Sport Development Fund for the next fiscal year on December 6, 2017. This fund is aiming to lead the development of a sustainable Paralympic sport system in Canada to enable athletes to reach the podium at the Paralympic Games. Applicants are eligible to apply for funds of either $5,000, $10,000 or $15,000.
Currently there are 22 sports on the Paralympic Games programme. Taekwondo will make its Paralympic debut in Tokyo 2020. Since its introduction to the Paralympics in 2015, the number of para taekwondo athletes in the world ranking system has doubled. During the 2017 Para Taekwondo World Championships hosted in London, Great Britain, approximately 260 athletes from a record-breaking 59 countries entered the competition. Canada’s Anthony Cappello claimed a bronze in the K43 M-61kg category.
Taekwondo Canada will support this CPC’s funding initiative and encourage all eligible parties to apply for projects that are in alignment with the Paralympic pathway. Local sport organizations, clubs, PSOs, universities/colleges, and other sport-based non-profit and charitable organizations are eligible to apply for this funding.
The application will launch on December 6, 2017 and close on January 12, 2018. The final decisions on funding allocations is scheduled for the week of February 19th, 2018.Detailed information will be available on the CPC’s website after the official launch.
