In Memoriam – Grandmaster Nam Sik Baik

Taekwondo Canada is announcing the passing of Grandmaster Nam Sik Baik. Grandmaster Baik was born in Wanju, South Korea where he began to dedicate his life to the art of taekwondo, leaving a tremendous legacy.
Grandmaster Baik was a 17 time national sparring champion in Korea and, in 1983, was chosen by Kukkiwon to promote taekwondo in Canada. He founded the first Kukkiwon taekwondo dojang in Windsor, Ontario before moving to Toronto where he helped shape Taekwondo Canada as a master, coach, trainer and leader. His passion and dedication earned him a posthumous 10th Dan from Kukkiwon.
Beyond competition Grandmaster Baik was a guiding force in promoting over 10,000 black belts. He is survived by his family, friends, students and those he influenced.
