Taekwondo Canada Announces New Dates for National Championships
Posted on
Taekwondo Canada is pleased to announce that it has rescheduled its National Championships to the following dates:
-
- 2022 Canadian National Poomsae Championships from March 12-13
- 2022 Canadian National Kyorugi Championships from April 15-17
This year’s Poomsae National Championships will now be hosted online to ensure Taekwondo Canada is in a position to nominate and prepare a National Team and to avoid any scheduling issues with the upcoming 2022 Poomsae World Championships in Goyang, Korea.
The Kyorugi National Championships will be hosted in Toronto, Ontario at the Westin Harbour Castle. This event will not only feature Senior Kyorugi athletes but also Junior, Cadet and Youth Kyorugi athletes.
The dates announced today will replace the previously scheduled January 2022 National Championships that were postponed due to the rise of COVID-19 cases in Ontario. The decision to postpone and reschedule the National Championships was made in consultation with numerous bodies and confirmed on December 21st, 2021.
“The decision to postpone the National Championships was very difficult and we are pleased to announce the rescheduled dates today” said Executive Director Dave Harris. “We have looked at all aspects of the event and wanted to make sure that we could schedule dates that would make the most sense for all involved. I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in this decision including Taekwondo Canada’s Board of Directors, Staff, Sport Canada and most importantly, the athletes, coaches and parents who will be taking part in the event. The decision takes into account the safety of the athletes which is paramount”.
More details and information regarding the rescheduled 2022 National Championship events is forthcoming and will be found on our website.
