Ottawa, ON (February 14, 2022) – After changes announced by World Taekwondo today related to the event registration deadlines and the addition of possible quarantine exemptions for the upcoming 2022 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, Taekwondo Canada has made the decision to move its 2022 National Poomsae Championships to February 26th and 27th.

This decision was made in order to meet these revised event requirements and ensure a Canadian Poomsae National Team is selected to attend the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Goyang, Korea.

The National Championships will remain online and all individuals that are currently registered for the event will be eligible to compete. Registration for the event will be open until Friday, February 18th at 5:00 PM Eastern Time.

In making the announcement today, Taekwondo Canada Executive Director Dave Harris said, “We recognize the challenges that this decision places on our poomsae athletes, however after careful consideration of all factors related to the World Taekwondo announcement, we believe that moving the event date was our only viable option.”
